Ze a rita review11/23/2023 ![]() Imagine that! I spent my time waiting for her in the airside executive lounge, sipping complimentary Dewars. She wanted to do a little shopping at the duty free are. □ The next morning, we departed for the airport an hour early after our final sumptuous breakfast. We didn’t want to leave□ Nevertheless… room service delivered a Keto salad to my better half…which she thoroughly enjoyed, and I ate leftover pizza because the AYCE breakfast buffet bulge was already apparent. At the end of a third perfect day, we were dreading our departure the following morning. However, the manager’s words and efforts only reinforced what we already know: Marriott is a quality chain. Having said that, we weren’t looking to receive anything in exchange for our ‘breakfast experience’. We are widely-traveled and appreciate the finer things in our accommodations. ![]() We’re not people who look for fault in everything we see, wherever we travel. I won’t get into the multiple issues here but I will say that, after the manager took note of our displeasure, she righted the situation with a few complimentary Mimosas along with her very sincere apologies. The only glitch that we encountered was at breakfast where we received poor service from our designated table attendant. Our final full day, a Saturday, was spent on the beach…needless to say. Enough for a hungry man…She couldn’t finish her GOAT pizza which was delicious as well. Wood-fired ovens turn out memorable treats: I recommend the ‘Meat and Greet’ personal pizza. Terrazzo Pizza, just outside the resort, provide a delicious dinner. We Ubered back to the resort, exhausted, and spent the remainder of the afternoon on the beach. The empanadas were the best I’ve ever tasted! The following day we Ubered to the Old City to view the old Fort of San Juan ( Castillo de Morro), the secondary Fort and the ancient Cathedral and Old Town. That evening, we stepped out for dinner, wanting authentic Puerto Rican cuisine at a restaurant across from the little park just west of the Marriott. The beginning of a memorable and perfect day! The sun, the drinks provided by the attentive beach service, the roar of the surf and the salty sea all made for an excellent first day of rest in San Juan, a city of warmth, friendliness and hospitality. Wilson, our server, provided excellent care and then we were off to the beach ( after overeating, of course)! Wilson even had two chairs and an umbrella reserved for us while we changed into our swimming attire. The next morning, we couldn’t wait to get to the beach…but not before breakfast! The buffet has everything one could hope for, including salmon and made to order omelettes. There is a coffee/ tea maker with an assortment of choices. The sliding door to the balcony is soundproof and has a blackout curtain for those wanting to sleep late. The fine wood and marble bath accents are outstanding. The bath was stocked with all manner of toiletries, lotions, soaps and shampoo etc…The towels are thick and luxurious. The room was well-appointed with a helpful mini fridge that is not stocked with expensive snacks and drinks but actually for the use of the guests. The king bed was firm but comfortable for a good night’s sleep after our voyage. We dropped by for a few night time supplies and proceeded to ‘ R and R’ time. Just outside the resort there are a CVS and a Walgreens that go non-stop. We put out the ‘Do not disturb’ sign and settled in. We then took the elevator to our room, entered, dropped our luggage, opened the balcony door and… oh my God! The salt air, breeze, sounds of the Caribbean Sea far below! Just perfect. The front desk agent was polite, cheerful, helpful and informative. ![]() Thank you, Marriott! After our midweek evening flight from Orlando and a short, ten dollar Uber ride from the airport, we arrived. Our view of the pounding surf far below us, from the sixteenth floor, was enjoyed every minute. As Bonvoy Elite members and Marriott timeshare owners, we were VERY pleasantly surprised and pleased with the complimentary unit upgrade to Oceanfront when we arrived, as well as the gift of two free daily breakfast buffets. It’s beachside, Puerto Rico is a US territory which requires no PCR test upon return to the mainland, it’s proximity to Florida, where we live and, of course, it’s a Marriott which, in our opinions, represents the essence of quality. We selected the Marriott San Juan Stellaris for our long birthday celebration weekend for several reasons.
